This article explains what you should do in the unlucky event of IT equipment theft or loss.
What should I do if I got my phone or computer stolen?
- As soon as you notice that you have lost your asset you have to submit a request for stolen asset. This is important for us to be able to lock the device and/or your accounts that are at risk.
- Log in toiCloud.com and try to find your device. If you see it there you can mark it as lost and remote wipe it.
- File a police report as soon as possible with the details of the event. Make sure you have added the time of the theft/loss, place of theft, the name of the device and serial number, any other info of what happened into the report.
- Send us the police report in your Zendesk request from step 1.
- Your manager will be notified about the loss and have to give us an approval before you receive a replacement device from IT.
Precautions to enforce prior to loss or theft:
- Make sure file vault is active after enrolling the device to Fleetsmith
- A minimum of a 6 digit passcode for Android and iPhone devices.
- Use the computer lockers in the office during the lunch break and after hours
- Turn on Find My iPhone and Find my Mac
- Make sure you have Fleetsmith installed if you are on a Mac computer
